Funny you mention that Liquid Ultra: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=68744398&f=188&p=461637559

I was asking you about that yesterday. lol So tell me about these naked standoffs. Do they have to be used for delidding or can I not use a normal block.

P.S. Those Linus dudes are all on your dick mang.

Only reason I'm using CLU is for the bare die, as it's a far better conductor.
If i were not delidding I'd go with Indigo or some normal paste on the IHS.

The naked standoffs are used without the Intel IHS being used, basically so you're block doesn't crush the die.

Fuck that makes sense. LMFAO I'll have to try that on my next build. I didn't even think about crushing the die. (And with my DTNoz5 I probably would have.)

Let me know how that liquid metal works out.

Just finished delidding my 4770k using the Vice and Hammer method.
Noticeable clamp marks on the IHS, which doesn't concern me as i have no intention on using the stock IHS.

Cleaned with Indigo Extreme Alcohol Cleaner, Q-Tips & Removed glue residue with a CC.
Still plenty of cleaning to do on the chip, although honestly it hardly matters providing the die is clean.

Applied Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra to the bare die and replaced the IHS with MX-4 to test temps & obviously if the chip is still alive.

I was able to achieve 16c Temperature drop on Prime95 Blend Test from the stock IHS/Tim & CLU/Delid
I expect even better results when i install the EK Naked Ivy Mount & Watercool this system.

Fucking Intel ruining everything with their new shitty IHS mounting technology.

Glad to see it worked out for you.

I wasn't running with adaptive vcore so it's fine.

Not concerned about stability yet, i only ran the chip to see if it was still working.
