Yep it should be ((sqrt 9)!) - 9/9 ...which would = 5

/e The top of the square root symbol, should have stopped just before the exclamation point. Cause 3! = 6

/ee 3! = 3*2*1....but 9! = 362880

I found an easier way to generate a 5 using only 9's....

(9+9) - Sqrt 9 ...ALL divided by sqrt 9 ...or....

(18-3)/3 = 5

like that one better

factorial can only be used with integers, a sq root isnt an integer

Well technically the 7 o'clock thing doesn't work either...it would be x approaching 7...forever...but never reaching it.

/e Unless you applied the rounding function to the .999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999.....

/ee ONLY because 9 happens to be a perfect square.

like to think so but factorials have no place in order of operation or as you say pedmas

i used to think that too, but mathematically 0.9 repeating is actually equal to 1, not just approaching or close to it.
