I haven't kept up with canon, but there hasn't been any real advances in the camera since the T2I. Like if you compare T2I and T3I they are all pretty much the same performance wise, and just add a movable screen. Even if you compare the T5I to the T2I the only big changes is having 25k boost ISO and 12k max ISO and 9 focus points. The rest of the specs for any TI camera don't even come close with the T2I. EX: shutter lag, boot time, image quality, lower noise at high ISO.
I don't see why their cameras can't really surpass an older model in all areas.
