CPU is in and locked down...re'd a call to ASUS cause it LOOKS different than the older CPU sockets...even the plastic part where the locking lever hinges is gray as well....tier one tech told me take it off...I said...uh...it doesn't look like it comes off, it's all one solid piece with the locking lever plastic ...I was embarrassed to have to calll :/

ALL the plastic in this 2nd picture is grey...and apparently, the locking lever is on a cam of some sort...so as you go to lock it down it moves the large square grey surface a VERY tiny amount forward to lock the pins against the contacts. The grey square surface is full of pin holes...if I had listened to tier one tech, I would be RMAing this board...already lol

...in other words there is no white plastic...it's all grey and all one solid piece.

when you open the locking lever the whole large gray square slides backwards about .2mm and then u see all the gold ...holes....the grey square is only about .3 mm thick and the pins on the 4170 are about 2mm long...good thing I called ^^
anyways...the CPU is safely in and locked down....now for the HELL that is the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO install LOL
