Latest DayZ Patch In Its Weird Glory Goes Live January 20th

Experimental DayZ build balances stomach capacity

This may well be the weirdest information you've ever seen in a video game's patch notes. Dean Hall, via PC Gamer, has posted up the pending changelog of a build of DayZ he and his team have been working on over the last few weeks. Included are some pretty bizarre alterations that would sound mighty weird to anyone who hasn't actually played the game.

The build goes live tomorrow, January 20th, and includes some zany-sounding updates like the following:

- Added stuffed notifier (instead of sickness when full up)
- Saline transfusion doesn't refill full blood
- Balanced stomach capacity

Of course, all of those updates are pretty delectable for those who dare to enter the austere world of DayZ. Additional updates such as allowing character names to be edited in the main menu, berry picking, and the harbor town of Svetloyarsk make this patch something to look forward to, as bizarre as it sounds. Let us know if it delivers in the comments below.

Klipsch Ventures into Gaming Headset Territory with KG-200 and KG-300 Wireless

Klipsch's first foray into gaming headsets

We were bummed when Klipsch stopped making new speaker lines for PCs. To this day, we're fans of the ProMedia 2.1 and 5.1 Ultra speaker sets, both of which deliver crisp audio and hard hitting bass. Maybe one day Klipsch will re-enter the PC speaker market, but in the meantime, the company will try its hand at gaming headsets starting with the launch of the KG-200 and KG-300 Wireless.

"Following the success of our bestselling ProMedia 2.1 multimedia speakers, we have undoubtedly gained the necessary expertise to bring new products to the gaming market," said Chris Aiello, headphone product manager for Klipsch. "For years the focus has been on the evolution of gaming graphics, but developers and studios are now emphasizing a quality audio experience. With decades of industry-leading audio developments, our new headsets will be the quintessential audio accessory that best brings the gaming experience to life."

The KG-200 is a wired headset with "athletic mesh" earpads for long-term comfort and breath-ability without sacrificing noise isolation. Inside are 40mm precision-tuned drivers. Ear mounted controls give gamers access to four selectable EQ presets:

Fidelity: Clear, balanced sound for any situation
Combat: Optimized bass enhances explosions, gunshots, and vocals
Stealth: Clean highs and clear mids enhance very detail around you
Sport: Bass and mids tuned to enhance big hits and clutch plays

There's also a digital amplifier and precision-flex boom mic that's adjustable and detachable. The KG-200 will be available next month for $130 MSRP.

The KG-300 Wireless is a similar looking headset with mostly the same specifications in wireless form. It uses three AAA batteries and adds Dolby Digital Decoding and proprietary Klipsch SphereSpace Surround technology to the mix. Look for it to ship next month as well, for $200 MSRP.

Klipsch says both headsets are designed for use with Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Nvidia Preps GeForce GTX Titan Black Edition and GeForce GTX 790 Graphics Cards

Nvidia already owns the single-GPU performance crown, having plucked it back from the competition with the release of the GeForce GTX 780 Ti graphics card two months ago after AMD snatched it from atop the GeForce GTX Titan's head. Now that it's back where Nvidia feels it rightfully belongs, the GPU maker has no plans of letting it go any time soon and will defend its crown with the upcoming launch of the GeForce GTX Titan Black Edition and dual-GPU GeForce GTX 790 video cards.

According to VideoCardz, the updated Titan will flex the same GPU as the GTX 780 Ti but with higher double precision computing performance (more FP64 CUDA cores). It will also have 6GB of onboard GDDR5 memory, which is twice as much as the GTX 780 Ti, 2,880 CUDA cores, 240 TMUs, and 48 ROPs. No word on exactly when it will be released, just that it's likely coming sometime next month and is expected to cost around $1,000 MSRP.

The Titan Black Edition won't replace the GTX 780 Ti in performance, which is still the preferred card among gamers because of its price tag (it's several hundred dollars less than a Titan). However, those looking for a dual-GPU card will get their wish in March with the launch of the GTX 790.

VideoCardz warns that it wasn't able to verify the specs but believes it will ship with two 28nm GK110 GPus, two 2,496 CUDA-packed processors for 4,992 total, 416 total TMUs, 80 total ROPs, and 10GB of GDDR5 on a 320-bit bus. This one is also expected to retail for $1,000.
