my phone only takes certain audio formats. currently using MP3 320 for downloads, picked that over the other formats cause of the bigger file size ( 85MB for the album i just downloaded for example ). the site i use though, has AAC-LC as an "audiophile" option compared to the standard option ( MP3 ). now, the AAC-LC is ridiculously small in size, is this format pretty lossy?

i dont care about space, i care about SQ. any thoughts? also, phone has to convert the AAC i think when transferring. not sure what it converts to though, mp3 or wma, or something.

both AAC-LC and MP3 320 show the same 320Kbps sample rate, but the lower file size from AAC worries me ( less then 10MB for an album? ) but i also have heard of MP3 not being a good codec.

i want the shit on my phone

it shows the MP3 320 as barely smaller then FLAC, im sure it's not as good of a codec but not alot of options for what i'm trying to do. i can pick MP3, WMA ( not offered by the site i'm getting certain albums though ), AAC-LC, AAC+ ( also not offered ).

You said 85mb for 320kb mp3 for an album

Flac is like 25mb PER song

Flac is around 1,000kbps

What app are you using on your phone to play music?

the standard music player ( xbox music app ). to my understanding, the codecs on windows phone get supported by the cpu, which is a snapdragon s4 and flac is not supported. or is this solely on the app?

Its the app.

Flac is just a software encoding method.

Thats why sansa zip clip, doesnt support flac but if you change the software it does.

sweet dude, thanks. now i can redownload in flac, and still use blutooth ( car ).
it says requires SD card, but most windows phones dont have SD, so fingers crossed.

most cant tell difference from 320 to flac even with high end gear

most importantly is where the 320bit mp3 came from and even the flac, crappy conversions will sound like crap
