Maybe you cant hear the difference because you're using regular headphone cables.

http://www.headphone.com/collections/300-1000/products/cardas-clear-cable-for-hd800-10ft-14

Buy those & then re-test your dacs.

Lol holy shit. Didn't know headphone cables could cost that much.

A guy who lives not far from me makes speaker cables by hand and sells them for for prices up to $40,000 per pair I believe (yes fourty thousand)

They come in a fancy suitcase though, totally worth 40k for the purist ignis reference pair.

He's fucking loaded now, upper class Asians buy his cables like hot cakes. He sells more than he can make lol

Just bought a vizio M series 2015 that came out this month

I need a decent affordable sound system to go with it.
Budget would be near or under $300.

Thought about the Dayton set up listed on CNET but I haven't looked at how they all connect.

I do not want cables running all over the place. It'd have to be done right.
I could set up speakers at the TV site and behind the couch on the ground.

Nothing is getting plugged in to the wall and we don't want them visible.

Please someone direct me to a set up for sports/movies and music :)

Thank you

What people do with their money is their own. If I was loaded I'd probably waste it on dumb stuff too.

Exactly. Why not spend $35,000/cable if you have a net worth of $2 billion for instance? its the same % as if a normal guy bought a stick of gum.

Does it HAVE to be surround? at 300 dollars I'd mostly recommend to stick to stereo as you'll get 2 better speakers rather than 5 worse. Plus as you mentioned cables etc...

If you do insist on surround (Which I don't really advise you to go with at $300..)

there's this package from Dayton which includes a brilliant 12" 120 watt subwoofer:

Costs $249 but you're going to need a seperate receiver.

Monoprice's sub $200 5.1 package has received raving reviews in terms of bang for buck (never heard them myself)
