Yeah, you've probably never been practiced enough at a single game to rely on muscle memory, i imagine it's the equivalent of how a 60 yr old uses a keyboard by looking around for the letter they want. It's not your fault, you're a product of the times, steam culture where all that matters is buying massive amounts of games in bundles to barely if ever play before moving on to the next ones. Attention spans shrink by the year along with how many hours of intended game play and amount of challenge each new title brings.

even more off topic: I'm glad I avoided that cancer. I briefly installed steam to give that warhammer total war game a spin just because it was too tempting but ended up returning it pretty quick because of the amount of content including most of the races that should have been included (even Chaos!) were paywalled. There was even a Buy DLC button in the main game menu as soon as it came out. Shameless, disgusting stuff there. What happened to buying a game and getting the whole thing? I mean I don't even own it when i get it via Steam so I may as well at LEAST get to play all of it.
