/e Breif summary: Sent a WD Sata III 250GB Velociraptor to WD for RMA. After sending me FOUR 500GB Velociraptors w/o Icepacks...today I finally got one WITH an Icepack. Hopefully, whatever the problem on the factory floor, was...my diligent work has hopefully fixed the issue and all further Velociraptos will come with Icepacks :)

You thought it would end, you hoped it would end, you prayed to your god it had ended...but no.

The WD SAGA continues....the WD 500GB Velociraptor I just recieved this morning...had an Icepack yes....finally got around to putting it in comp this afternoon.

TIC - TIC -TIC -TIC ...etc., called WD, got right to supervisor of tech support...he had me try a few things (he was hoping as well)..but nada...dead as the proverbial doornail.
It's getting RMA'd ...again...and he swore he'd send one out next day air, with Icepack, and pretested lol

It's funny, it seems like you have more issues with your components than Gimhae, and yet you swear by them

Well actually only one was bad...the rest didn't have Icepacks...and I looked...no way to remove them from Icepack, or attach them.
I've had really good luck with parts....I think I'm paying for it all now....the other thing...they come in a 6 x 7 x 3inch box with just plastic things on either end which hold the HDD in exact center of box.

While that may be good for shipping a plane load of them...I don't know how well it does for shipping via truck to Pittsburgh, pot hole capital of the world :)

/e When they come from Newegg, that 6 x 7 x 3 inch box is in another box

UPDATE: I have finally broken down and purchased Bitdefender Internet Security...so far seems like a great program, doesn't have a pile of useless crap.had popup notification IF you want then...also has Internet Stealth Mode  doesn't use hardly any resources...and creates 3 processes in Task manager...uses less that 25MB of RAM :D

/edit Also creates 3 new Services..but I only use 2 of them...I have Parental Control Service...disabled.

During a full scan...it uses all 8 cores of my 8350 sometimes as high as 60% (you can adjust that) and about 2.5GB of RAM.....pretty cool program...only bad thing I've seen its it put 6 bdxxxxxxx.xxx files in root directory of C: ...not necessarily..BAD..just looks like shyt.

I called and asked why didn't you put them in a folder somewhere..or even , dare to hope, in the BitDefender folder. For an analogy I said..would you like it if while you were at work, someone walked by and threw paint all over your car? He laffed, said...no....I said: Well this is my car ^^
So he's conatct whoever knows if I can move or delete them...or...make an update that fixes that crap. Haven't seen a decent program do that in a long time :/
