Last I checked, DDR2 is still selling for a shit load to people who for no reason other than stupidity don't want to upgrade.

thats just the upper level retail buyers. the ones that purchase the semi-gaming desktop in a store and then know that more RAMZ means faster INTRANETZ so they upgrade, usually oblivious to the fact that theres more then one type of ram.

No you misunderstand, I have 2 working ASUS DDR2 mobos, and plenty of DDR2 RAM, but now, I have 2x ASUS Sabertooth 990FX mobos, but only one set of DDR3 RAM.

I don't want to sell my DDR2 RAM, hell I'm smack dab in the middle of comp illiterate central.....Just buy a few support parts like 3 cases, 2 PSU's, 3 DVD burners, 2 HDD's, and I'll have plenty of parts to make 3 complete, not too much, out of date comps. Which I can then sell off or keep one as a spare etc.
I already have plenty of vid cards, CPU's and mobos (only my 2nd Sabertooth would need DDR3 RAM).

I would end up with this...

AMD 5000+ OC'd from 2.6 to 3.2Ghz with EVGA 8600 GS...this already fully built and running but has shyt case...the ole 80mm fans, case.

AMD 955 BE OC'd from 3.2 to 3.8GHz with EVGA GTX 280

AMD FX-4170 with EVGA GTX 580

...and ofc my current system:

Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1

AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Motherboard ( 1302 BIOS)
EVGA 04G-P4-3687-KR GeForce GTX 680 FTW+ w/Backplate 4GB
CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866Mhz RAM (factory settings)
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 CPU Cooler (push/pull)

WD 250GB Velociraptor - SATA III
WD 1TB Caviar Black FAEX - SATA III
WD 1TB Caviar Black FAEX - SATA III
LG GH22LS30 CD/DVD Burner

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W Quad EPS12V

DELL Ultrasharp U3011, 30" monitor
Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 THX Speakers (Black)
Ducky DK9008 Shine II Blue LED Backlit Mechanical Keyboard (Cherry MX Black)
Logitech Optical M-100

Coolermaster ATCS 840 Full Tower Case
3x230mm, 1x120mm, Optional: 3x Scythe S-Flex SFF21G 120mm (installed)

I could supply each build with Win XP pro x86 or Win 7 Ultimate x64...all legit.

The SAGA of the RMA'd Velocirator continues....

Back in February, when the Sabetooth motherboard's North Bridge...forgot about half of my installed RAM, it's Southbridge ate my WD 250GB Velociraptor...so I called WD and told them and they were very helpful and set me (2nd Day Air) a brand new 500GB Velociraptor. When I opened the box and saw that it was 500GB I called back and said: "are you sure this is right, I only sent a 250GB...they said: " Yes we are out of stock on the 250GB and our policy is the same of better, when we RMA a product.

Only problem was that the 500GB they sent had NO ....IcePack..it's heatsink. So, I called them about 4 days ago, and told them that it came w/o and IcePack....they apologized and said no problem, we will rush out another one with an IcePack.

Which they did, and this time they sent it Next Day Air. It just arrived today, and guess what? No IcePack ...again. :)

So, I called them just now, told them what happened, they again apologized profusely and said...no problem, we'll send you a 3rd one, that will definitely have an IcePack. I asked to talk to a supervisor...just to make sure the message really got from the RMA dept. to the warehouse. Supervisor said, he'd personally make sure, and that I should have another one with IcePack, by tomorrow. I doubt it'll get here tomorrow, since next day air took 4 days to get here.

So the SAGA continues...

ALSO, just received the OTHER previously RMA'd ASUS Sabertooth motherboard today. I wonder what strange and wonderful things I'll see when I open IT'S box :D

Yep, I been buying WD HDD's for 10 years or so...they know, I'm not fooling around with them.

The RMA guy said: He didn't understand why the warehouse was shipping them w/o IcePacks....I said ....maybe all that flooding in Taiwan last year, melted all the IcePacks....the RMA guy started laffing so hard he spit his coffee all over his comp, or at least he said he did.
So yeah, I sent in a 250GB that WAS dead, and so far have received TWO replacement 500GB Velociraptors, which I can't use w/o the IcePacks :D

Best part is...due to my long time customer loyalty, I guess...they said just wait till the next one (3rd) arrives with the IcePack, then you can send back the other two. In other words...they did an Advanced RMA, w/o asking for CC #, which is usually req'd for an advanced RMA.

If this keeps up, I'll soon have enough 500GB Velociraptors to start selling them..or make a really big NAS unit lol
