Sorry I've not been posting much, but schiit stack w/ vali and modi 2 uber, and HD 600s, are a wonderful combo.
Music has gained so much thanks to this, shown me new things in my favourite songs
wonderful :) night and day from my AKG ipod headphones ;)

can't find correct link to AKGs I have, but they're 3.5mm jack with a really nice sound for ipod crap
the older version without mic should be easy to find and they're real nice for on the go use

I would get Dayton B652-AIR with Lepai LP2020A over those. Best combo in price range.

Well.. If you add to your budget a bit you can add Dayton sub 1000 or 1200 and you have more bass than you would need. For music listening I myself would find those bookselfs being enough tho.

I'm well aware of the dayton subs & how much they cost. My point being its over his budget.

Well he states he might go up if there is something worth it. Or he can buy Dayton speakers now and add sub later.
