Redo make your usb drive and try again.
Check your ram also.

ram was checked and was fine. disconnected all USB devices except mouse + keyboard. install went just fine.
what can I use to check life on ssd? assume it's either it works, or it doesn't and there isn't a middle area.

smartmontools has a live version though idk how well it'll work for an ssd.
But your right soon as they start to get iffy with installs and other shit its generally time to worry.
Like if the drive went to read only or something.
