Well.. Using amp for headphones for example.. Most likely your computer can play any headphones to produce sound some way. But when adding amp with them you can get much better performance out of your headphones. Not only you can play them louder but also more accurate. This comes more of importance when you have some high end headphones with higher Ohm impedance.

Same goes pretty much with speakers. You might be able to run them with low sources but you cant get high volume or accurate sound. But when adding amp you have more power to play them and produce more volume and more accurate sound. And it is easier to damage your speakers when they are under amped than over amped without speaking damaging the amp/player itself.

what the fuck did I just read

for starters more accurate is subjective considering amps slightly put their own color into them edit:unless you add in distortion/cleaner sound
also high ohm headphones isn't the importance its the sensitivity,

and @ bolded please explain this lol

do you even know what an amp does?

Well sensivity plays big role, yes, never said it doesn't. But generally higher impedance is harder to play.

Playing speakers on high volumes under amped can cause your amp to clip which can damage your speakers. This is more common to damage your speakers than damagin your speakers while over amping as when you over amp your speakers it starts to sound bad before damage is done and if you put volume down immediately damage is prevented. Under amping can also over heat your amp and cause damage to your amp itself. When over amped and played in moderate volume your amp stays cool and it doesnt need to push its limits. You are welcome to google if you want to know more about it.

"easier" was stated

you can hear the distortion and prevent damage from clipping

now for overpowering, how do you prevent this?

I have noticed it many times that you are a real nitpicker sometimes.

Breaking elements can happen from one clipping when amp is pushed over its limits and it produces big spike. For over amping if you pull volume up slowly and hear disortion go down immediately and there is nothing to worry about. Of course if you over amp and pull volume to maximum straight away with something like 200 watts over power you most likely break your elements. Small over amping how ever usually does nothing as most of speakers can handle bit over the stated safety values. Over amping is quite subjective to power of amp and what your speaker can handle.

imo, theyre great. really good bass if thats what youre into. they dont distort in louder volumes.

one thing i noticed that might be worrisome to some people. the green light on the right speaker stays on as long as the speakers are plugged in. its made to do that. you cant turn it off unless you unplug it.
