Asus motherboards (or at least some) expects a line level input and not a mic level or something alone those lines. With that being said the mod mic will work, but due to this it will have incredibly low volume as most microphone jacks actually send voltage to the capsule to help amplify it.

Makes sense.

When i hear " Doesnt work" I think like driver conflicts & shit lol

Please resist trolling me.
I dont know anything for the dumb question im about to ask:

What does an amp offer me specifically? I just get to turn my volume up louder with less distortion where my speakers would (we assume) normally distort?

Was looking at Lepai LP2020A+ but not sure why I need it.
Someone tell me why I need it please :)

Lepai amp is great pair for those daytons. And those daytons are great speakers for the money. Can highly recommend that combo. And for speakers like that you will need an amp to run them. For speakers like logitech desktops you dont need an amp at all.

I've read so many bad reviews about the antlion from people who have bought them. Apparently they don't work at all with some asus motherboards and most people describe the sound as being at the end of a long tunnel.

I wonder if anyone who even tells people to buy them owns one.

I do own ModMic and it is great with the features and mic quality it has. And I havent got any issues with asus motherboard either. If you have issues with motherboard mic input I would see same issues with any 3.5mm mic plug.

Well.. Speakers like that dont have jacks you could plug directly on your computer to start with. Also your computer can't produce enough power to play said speakers. Your computer sends the signal to amplifier that makes it strong enough for the speakers to play it loud enough.

Good thanks

That's what I was thinking. That the computer is the bottle neck in the equation.

But I see people use amps for what seems like enough power already and had me confused.

Thanks for not trolling me for the noon I am :)

Well.. Using amp for headphones for example.. Most likely your computer can play any headphones to produce sound some way. But when adding amp with them you can get much better performance out of your headphones. Not only you can play them louder but also more accurate. This comes more of importance when you have some high end headphones with higher Ohm impedance.

Same goes pretty much with speakers. You might be able to run them with low sources but you cant get high volume or accurate sound. But when adding amp you have more power to play them and produce more volume and more accurate sound. And it is easier to damage your speakers when they are under amped than over amped without speaking damaging the amp/player itself.
