it's all pretty subjective though to be honest...just don't mention it to some of these bit junkie nerds
spend weeks trawling gearslutz and head-fi reading the opinions of others until you're swayed
maybe there's nuance you prefer in one or another pressing or cycle, who knows
there's pretty much a trillion versions of most releases and all are subtly different.
SACD and Blu Ray audio are where you start getting into serious releases (they can range from expensive to ridiculous, but things like...dark side of the moon, 5.1 24/96 lossless mix, can be quite niche & amazing)
http://www.discogs.com/ is the place to go if you want to pick up your vinyl and other more 'obscure' releases
