No. Microsoft releases Windows Updates every month. These are general bug fixes and security updates.

Twice a YEAR, Microsoft releases "feature updates". These are sort of like huge Service Packs for Windows 10. Sort of like SP1 was for Windows 7.
The "feature updates", rewrite large portions of Windows 10. These generally cause many more issues than regular Windows Updates.

The "feature updates" come out in May and again in November. The last feature update was called 19H2 (1909) and was tolled out in November 2019. The BIG feature updates are the ones that come out in May. The smaller ones in November.

But that's just a possibility.

Since the freezing started AFTER you added the RAM... that is probably what caused the freezing.

If the problem returns...try JUST the old RAM.

If after trying both sets of RAM by themselves...you still have the problem...then it just might be the 2004 feature update.
If you get bored you can Google: 2004 feature update issues.

RAM needs three things to match, to work flawlessly. the speed, the timings and the manufacturer of the IC chips that are under the RAM heatsinks.

I'll wait for the Speccy screenshot. It tells us what parts you have, what temperatures they run at, etc. It's a lot easier for us to troubleshoot your problem if we know what components we're dealing with, and how hot they are.

and voltages that can be an issue too

but looks like problem should be solved especially on that mobo

Most of the time, mixing RAM doesn't work. They should probably BOTH work when used separately, unless you got freezing when you ONLY ran the old RAM.

Anyway, glad you got it worked out. :)

Before you buy any more RAM... might wanna put the old RAM in, by itself and see if it still works. If it does, you can sell it online somewhere, then buy a matching set of the new stuff.

Just make sure that HP motherboard can run all that RAM, before you buy more.
