Asking this because the case I picked up isn't really conventional for todays standards.
1 fan in the front
1 fan in the top
1 fan in the rear
Option for 2 fans on the side panel

Most of the ones I see today are 2-3 in front and 2 up top with 1 rear.

Im testing out one of those X99 Chinese motherboards that popped up recently to see if its any good
Basically im planning on running the top fan and top side panel fan as an exhaust while running a 120mm water cooler as an intake on the rear so the two fans next to it pull the hot air out.
The bottom side panel fan and front fan will operate as intake for the SSD and video card

I have 3 filters in 3 completely different places at this point - 1 Rear / 1 Side / 1 Front

Cases with side fans, have generally had cooling issue. It seems the side fan(s) interrupt the case air flow, and do more harm than good.

I like to bench with unigine and feel the case and see where the hot spots are
Its getting a little warm by where the optical drive would be but thats it

I think its doing ok so far
But im not sure if having the filter on the intakes long term hurts it with them being in 3 different places

On your case the front and the side should be the only intakes.

Filters or can sometimes make a significant difference. Gamers Nexus does a lot of case reviews and often tests this stuff. There are other factors involved so your results will vary from insignificant to major. It depends on the case and what fan setup you have.

Here is just one example: https://youtu.be/ctKKTeaNpb8?t=470

If your filters are easy to remove just do your own testing. Get the machine up to a stable high temp, then remove the filters and see if the temp stabilizes at a lower temp. Keep the ambient temperature and all hardware / software conditions the same.
