i can check the settings in full myself soon, but i've got a bit going atm to do so immediately.

I would check the BIOS settings. My guess is that the XMP settings would be for ALL the RAM and/or all the channels.

As for the 8700K temps, I would check Arkintel or Cpu-world. They should have listed, the max. temps.

From cpu-world...

Electrical / Thermal parameters
Minimum/Maximum operating temperature ? 0°C (case temperature) - 64.5°C (case temperature)
100°C (Digital Thermal Sensor)
Thermal Design Power ? 95 Watt

From arkintel...

TJUNCTION 100°C

/e So it looks like TCASE is 64.5C and TJUNCTION is 100C

8700K?

they say 85C is max daily temp, up from the 75C of previous gens

ya 8700k. that may be true but especially when i was toying with the bios, i wanted extra insurance keeping me from frying something.
i've read a lot of mixed reviews about this chip due to it still using a thermal compound, instead of solder.
i haven't de-lidded this chip, and to my understanding... i'm playing the lottery by not doing so.

i'm going to check the bios now, so i'll edit something in for reference.

From what I've seen others do on here...delidding will get you 15-20C lower temps.

from what ive read it seems like delid or no delid, ok temps are ok temps ie. 75C with a delid is same as 75C without a delid

you have a pretty high end motherboard too so i wouldnt worry about any other components, especially since you can't push your voltage to the extremes

never bad to stay on the safe side though, I ran my 4690K at 75C 3 years and while it didn't show any signs of degradation performance-wise it had some discoloration on the bottom

bios is actually very involved when you start down the rabbit-hole. i may be missing something due to this atm, but for the most part settings seem to address things generally and not individually.

most of what i read has similar results. however, it seems to be a decent roll on the lotto from what i've read as well. not sure i'm up to risking that, at least yet.
when i finally make the switch out of AiO liquid cooling, to my own hard-line. i'd me more apt to push the limits of the chip.

normal operating temps i'm not too worried about, even when under moderate load. it's more the demanding surges i am taking precautions of. i could be completely mistaken to worry about such, but it's why i turned the max temp down before reset.
although, it sounds that if i turned the max temps back up... i may still be able to safely use this OC profile during stress tests and still stay stable?

delidding easily drops 8700k temps by 15-25c
also requires you doing it properly tho, some ppl put too much glue after delidding and their temps dont drop as much.

I mean,
how else will I get stable 250+ fps on pubg?
Ryzen won't matter if you OC, it'll still drop below 144fps jaja

max temps are important to keep in check for sure, theyre also what i go off

if you only spike to 85C momentarily you should be totally fine though, i'd just keep the oc and try not to spike above 85C

can you still delid without regluing? seems like everyone's regluing it these days unlike when I was looking into it for the devils canyon cpu
