did you cucks rly just say
a dead cooler is causing 85c

it would mean your cpu will go to max
then overheat and shut off

sounds like bad mount
bad thermal shit
el oh el saying pump dead
noobs

I actually think he's right... sounds like bad thermal paste application.

Would also explain warm tube in cold tube out. It's just not able to wick away enough heat from the CPU heat spreader.

I had the pump die on my H100i GTX two years ago and I think it took me a while to realize it was dead. The cooler still functions surprisingly well with a dead pump, it's nothing like running it without a heatsink lol

idk how I could've messed up the thermal paste that bad, this isn't my first time installing a cpu cooler. I also just watched a gamersnexus video about paste application methods and they weren't getting big temperature fluctuations

That being said, the mounting system is a little weird. The backplate had a fair bit of play until I actually tightened down the block but I think it's like that by design.

Maybe high temps are because I only hand-tightened the thumbscrews? Should I be cranking those down hard with a screwdriver? It seems like there's a good amount of mounting pressure though

loose mounting can be due to thinner pcb board.
Seen it a few times, in any case you can use washers in back to add more pressure to your mount.

While your temps vary from others you should not eboth of you have much different ambients and cpus.
So many factors come into play that people here are just neglecting.

I feel your temps seem about right, I suggest you delid it if you want any serious gains.

@halfdead, idk if they do tbh, the software last I saw was super basic (corsair link iirc).
It claims to show temps (which are probably correct) but the pump and fan rpms I assume are guesstimates they should be and not what they are.
Least this was the case with earlier versions, couldn't really say for newer models., I have the original h100 and it didn't even have software
