Ya know what I think is hilarious? That would be the gaming/hardware industry. It's a perfect example of: "create a need, then fill it".
We are talking about "games" folks. There is no need for a game to be so demanding, so there is also no need for the hardware to be able to process that much information.
Definition of a gamer...
A bunch of guinea pigs used to drive computer technology forward for the rest of us. The hardware will NEVER exist that will run the most demanding game effortlessly. I mean look at which games actually HAVE the biggest following in raw numbers.
They will be stupid cartoonish games, that will run on almost anything. Hell the game that put Nintendo on the map was a fooking 2d side scroller.
The best part of the internet, IMO is that it let's a pile of people get together for w/e reason. Games are just a tiny subset of that experience.
I mean honestly, do we really need another 1,000 particles in an explosion? Isn't the explosion itself, all that we need to know that we blew something up.
Sure, rapidly developing tech for things like real time, deadly accurate video during say a brain operation is a great thing. But just remember that "everyone" does NOT have to be one of the "guinea pigs" that drives that tech.
IF you have money to literally burn, then go for it. Otherwise just get w/e you CAN afford and others spend their money, to drive the tech forward.
Keep in mind that game developers these days, aren't really doing THEIR best to write concise, efficient code for games. They are just slapping it together, fast, to get the kickbacks from the hardware companies.
