I mean the odds of your mobo just dying like that soon as you switch gpu is like 1 in a mil.

So i installed it and didnt have it connected to my psu, pc would boot and it read the gpu was there, but when i finally connected it to the psu and tried to run it, nothing happened but the blue light

Like Atr said, rebuild the PC. Re-seat the CPU/RAM, make sure there's no dust in connection spots, re-seat all your power cables (on both sides of the connection), and try booting with display hooked up to just the integrated graphics (if it worked with old card, and not new one, possibly bad GPU).
