But now I realized the problem is actually still there... everytime I turn off the pc i need to take out the "cmos" battery (if thats the proper wording) and put it back in then start up the PC

The battery is a CR 2032 it's available in any drug store.



/e Next time you take out and replace the CMOS battery, make sure the date and time in the BIOS are correct. If they are incorrect all kinds of weird stuff will happen.

replacing the battery makes no sense.
when he removes it it defaults, when batteries dead it defaults.
also ever modern mobo can detect a failed restore from previous settings.

give it a shot but i mean you really pulling hairs at that point.
either bad bios or hardware failure imo.

Dead batteries do cause issues.

Have you replaced the cmos battery with a new, fresh battery?
