Since gaming is still only dependent on up to 4 cores in the vast majority of cases, Intel is still better due to higher IPC and clock speed across the board. However, dollar for dollar, AMD is better for productivity. It's even been showing in commercial sales (the EPYC lineup of server processors from AMD is taking sales from Intel)
Ex: You can pick up a 12 core Threadripper for less than half the price of the 10 core i9, and it still has higher clock speed. Even the 16 core Threadripper is still cheaper than the 10 core i9.
For starters ipc is very close on both but ipc depends on isa
Ryzen vs intel single thread is very close on something like cinebench when both clocked the same then clock speed of Intel becomes the winner like in gaming and single thread
But what hurts amd also in gaming is latency of IF and games are usually done in serial
In productivity that's still same as always what the software wants
Single vs multi
Everyone assumes multi but many cad programs use single\serial
Not to mention Adobe lol
