Even at 1080p you need a DVI-D for 144Hz.

Regular DVI-I can't handle the bandwidth.

Your monitor has connections for DVI-D, HDMI and DP (Displayport).

/e It also has a VGA ( D-sub) connector, but that definitely won't work. :)

thank you.

So next stupid question,

DVI-D vs Display port?

For against?

I am aware that i only get sound with display port, and the i can fasten the DVI-D with scrues.

Other for/against?

IMO - DP > DVI-D > HDMI

on my gpu/mobo this is the default order aswell, which means if i connect more then one monitor DP will be my main display, or DVI-D will if i dont have DP connected

Edit: and by main display i mean bios + display 1 in nvidia control panel

It depends entirely on the version of HDMI.
Ver 2.0 should have no issues anything under 2.0 gets trumped by dvi-d.
1080@144hz should be fine on dvi-d. Dp beats both though.
