It's probably V-mem (Virtual memory, such as the kind used with Hyper-V).
It isn't. I rarely change anything on my comp. The only thing I can think that would cause the BIOS to read the installed RAM incorrectly is... bad ram, maybe a dirty RAM slot.
We did have a power failure a day or two before I noticed the discrepancy.
I have another set of the exact same RAM being RMA'd as we speak. When that ariives I'll stick it in the motherboard and see what's what.
