I'm most like going Intel + AMD in my next purchase. Got my eyes on laptops with the new lineup cooperated between the two companies AMD GPU and Intel CPU within the same chip.

Love it. Tho I would wait and see what Pascal brings. Specially with these current fucked GPU prices.

He asked for an I9 build via PM, but I explained that probably wasn't necessary. :)
All he's gonna do is game, stream and some productivity.

Only really needs an i3. I have an i7 extreme and crap like Starcraft still manage to lag it. Computer hardware is way more advanced than the crappy programming behind most games.

8 year old game made by Blizzard..
Also productivity work is a large term. When I re-encode I'm so glad I got the 8c/16t from the Ryzen 1700.
An hour takes around 7 minutes where before it took freaking 45 minutes on an i5 laptop.

When I asked his budget, he replied and I quote: "I wipe my ass with hundred dollar bills".

I definitely agree with your hardware choices. If you got the cash there is no reason to cheap out.
My next build is going to be at least in the 4000$. Waiting for Pascal, Cannon Lake and the next gen of monitors (200hz, 1440p ultrawide HDR)

Poorly optimized game. i7-4930k and a 970. Even with CPY physics off it still lags. :( Oh well. I average between 30-60 fps at 2560x1440.

lol Sounds like a nice problem to have. You can tell him just because he has the money doesn't mean he should throw it away and waste it on something he can't use. :P

Use that cash on buying a badass desk, sound system, headphones, sweet monitor setup, keyboard and mouse. Why use it on a computer part you won't use? I know from experience.
I was dumb years ago and threw money at my PC as a hobby. I have matured and became wiser over the years and I understand what a fool I was back then.

If he is that insistent on throwing his money away then give him a 10k computer. I'd put that money saved on parts he doesn't need and apply it to some shit he can use like a badass 2k$ monitor with curves and all kinds of bullshit.

Well the 4k$ is for the hardware, monitor(s), speakers and headphones.
Gonna use another 1500$ on creating the table and the custom watercooling. Wanna make something similar to Red Harbinger Cross Table.
