Any metal or plastic part, near the fan(s). Whichever fan is making the noise will definitely sound louder, way louder.

I would probably use the 3 foot 1x3. The wood transfers the sound very well. I'm guessing it is the power supply fan, but can't be sure till you isolate the noise.
You can touch it to the sides of the fans, the shroud, as well. Just make sure you don't touch the moving fan blades.

Yeah I did that. Touched the case of the fans. The back fan, the (I believe it is) the CPU fan, and the GPU fan. I’m 90% sure on that’s what those fans are. All of em had the same sound. Touched the tower case as well and it was about the same. Then you touch the power supply case and it has more vibration.

If I just put my ear next to it, that’s where the sound seems like it’s originating from. I don’t want to take it out because it says warranty void if removed. And it’s like 8 months or so old

You can just RMA the whole power supply.

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorization.

In other words you send it back to the manufacturer, and they send you a new one.

Ah. Once I contact them, I’ll be sure to get that. I figured that’s all I’d have to do

If you're lucky they will let you do and Advanced RMA. That's where they send you a new one, THEN you send them the one with the problem.

You can just bridge the connection on the power supply to make sure it's 100% the psu. Fan will kick on before you send it off

The power supply could still be working, even though the bearings on the power supply fan are going out.
So the paper clip test won't help in this case.

/e Btw, you want your ear pressed against the end of the piece of wood. You're not looking for vibration, but for sound.
The piece of wood will act like a sound magnifier. You won't be able to mistake which fan is causing the noise. It will be VERY loud, through the piece of wood.

Yeah I did that. I don’t know if it VERY loud, but it was louder than the other fans. I’m going to contact customer support tomorrow when I get a chance and see about replacing the part.
