Don't do this. The first part is correct, as in delete the stuff you want gone, but CCleaner has a function which can do a secure wipe of free space on your drive, so any potentially recoverable files that have been "deleted" are truly gone. Just run that instead of "writing garbage data".

i don't trust a program that had as big of a security scandal as ccleaner did recently

So use BleachBit. Or any number of programs that can do the same thing.

for something this important i think it's better to do it yourself than to trust some closed source program to do it
