Why not try popcorn time?

Ooooh, interesting option.

Question... when I configure my TV as a 2nd monitor to watch movies etc., on, will I be able to set up Popcorn Time, so that the audio from the movie plays on the TV and my browser audio, still works on my monitor?

No, nor would u be able to do it with Kodi or Plex. You would have to get those apps seperat devices. Or figure a way to force the audio to certain device which I have never found.

Well, currently I use VLC media Player to watch movies stored on my HDD, on my TV via the HDMI cable.
In VLC media Player there are a couple settings that allow me to keep the VLC Media Player sound, coming out of the TV, (when I have the TV set up as 2nd monitor), and all the rest of the computer sudio, be it browser or w/e will come out of mu computer speakers.

Like so....

Some of the options shown in my "remember how to set it up" pics only appear when TV is set to be 2nd monitor.

Ya that's with vlc, how do u purpose to make vlc work with Plex or Kodi???

If anything you would be able to do this with popcorn time since it technical downloads the movie on to your computer while watching it. U can just open that file in vlc.

You can force the audio/duplicate to another device with Audio Router.

Edit: there are also paid products for that if Audio Router lacks features. Luckily, Audio Router was and is still good enough for me.

Kodi can be routed to use different player, and VLC should be no exception.

I've got a year to figure it all out.
Even though Verizon gives me incredible deals on my TV choices, I can see the writing on the wall.

It's just like back in the day when Cable TV first came out. Everyone said why do we have to pay for TV. The answer from the cable companies was: So you don't have to watch commercials.
Well, they started out like that. Channels like AMC, TBS, TNT, USA, TMC, etc., didn't have commercials. Then over the years, so slow that no one would notice, they started adding commercials here and there, bit by bit, until it's now worse than local TV channels.

I can see that the premium channels like HBO, SHO, MAX, STARZ etc., are gonna do that too...eventually. They've already started. There's now like 15 mins of commercials between movies, and tons of premium channel series, popping up.
In another 10-15 years, it'll be just like AMC, TBS, USA, etc.

Then there will be new premium channels that are commercial free. Same shyt different year. And no matter how much they abuse the customer, the price just keeps going up.

So, I think this time next year I will be cutting the cable. All I really watch anymore is movies. And even good movies are getting few and far between. I think I've pretty much grown out of watching series, anyways. There's only IMO, a good new series, every 5-8 years or so.
