DVI itself is capable of transporting audio.

There are a few devices that take advantage of it.. But mostly it's used for video only.

dvi can carry audio what is so hard to understand?

many of those old large projection tvs had dvi,
remember making 2 pin cable for running audio through dvi on a gtx 260
