since you seem to know so much about them, why ask for help

I'm not asking for help picking a computer, I'm asking for help with a specific question regarding the requirements for using dual monitors. If I wanted help picking components I would have posted in the Computer Building Discussion forum.

But please, build me an adequate PC with specs equal or better than an i5-7400, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB SSD that includes a retail copy of Windows 10, a DVD-RW drive, and a keyboard and mouse for under $450, and I'll admit you're right.

next mining boom + phone memory increase individual gpu's + ram combined going to cost more than a prebuilt that already has both of them and ppl still going to swear they are shit values
similar thing happened earlier this year when ethereum first hit the market gpu prices exploded prebuilts stayed the same and everyone just pretended it didn't happen and kept linking ppl overpriced to hell partspickers and shitting on the notion that anything else was even an option
it cracks me up
i mean i've only ever assembled my own computers and it's about as hard as putting together lego bricks, is it really worth being so elitist over

It's just a meme, that prebuilts are literally Satan and cost twice the price. Like you mentioned, it has a lot to do with elitism.

Anyway, would appreciate more input on whether 1xVGA+1xHDMI is sufficient for dual monitors, and if the quality of the VGA output will be noticeably degraded compared to a 2nd HDMI/DVI output.

Kinguin win10 for $15

ayy

But in all honesty, There are certain times where a prebuilt works out better than building your own. Not very many IMO.. But there are a few.

VGA will be fine. You probably won't even notice a difference. Just make sure its not a like 20 foot vga cable.

it's very easy to match that prebuild without a GPU...
i mean pick what is more important to you, quality all around parts & meh case build it urself or prebuilt w/ meh mobo/case/psu/etc.

Yeah Windows is the main piece that increases the price of parted PCs so dramatically.

From what I've read Kinguin sellers can be pretty sketchy and frequently are fake, but I could be wrong. I know there's some video game key selling store where a ton of them are fake, G2A I think, so I'm a bit hesitant to buy from key sellers like that.

Mostly I just don't feel like building. I built my own PC, and right now I'm just trying to help my uncle get his set up, I really don't feel like having to go there and build it for him.

Appreciate the info regarding VGA. Wasn't sure if there was any issue with running the different output types together or anything like that. I know there was some weird shit when I ran triple monitors where I had to get an active displayport adapter or something and couldn't run 2x DVI 1xHDMI.

+$90 for legit retail Windows 10? Unless there's a cheaper way to get guaranteed legit Windows I'm not aware of.
