having as few points of vulnerability as possible in my system has paid off once more
this thing in particular seemed useless after i stopped using spinning rust for my os drive

by the way never update anything unless necessary, especially drivers.

This Gave me a scare, I had CCleaner on both mine and my gf's computer, I even remember downloading it in the past few months in late July when I formatted both of them.

Thankfully I set the app to never update and it stayed on the 5.2 version and it didn't moved to the 5.33 infected version.

Just to be safe I checked my registry for the signs of an infection then uninstalled.

Never "update" a free 3rd party program. Download the newest version, scan it at virustotal.com then uninstall the old one and install the new one.

Unless you are on the bleeding edge of hardware, you don't really have to update CCleaner anyhow. I'm still using version 5.06, which is fairly old.

Same. I've been using the same version for two years maybe.
