Like I said Volta will offer the same price brackets as the current 1070 and 1080 and so on.
So if you wanted to wait for Volta, you would get the 1070 equivalent when it come and out, so it should still be your $700 CAD while here it's $420-520 USD.
I'm still using a gtx 770 on my newer ryzen setup on 1440p and I'm playing just fine on medium/lower settings . Fps I turn down settings while mmo I turn them a little up.
