1440 is QHD 1440p became slang for it you dont see it advertised as 1440p like 1080p 900p 720p or 4k
edit not sure if you see 1440p on product boxes now either

I beleive 2k 4k and etc are directly related to cinema aspect ratios

this resolution thing is complete mess though

2560 or whatever is 2k and 4K refers to 4096 pixels. I think that's how they do it is by horizontal pixel. Just say the damn resolution imo.

Google "2k monitors" and check what resolution it's mostly refereed too.
720p HD
1080p FHD
1440p QHD In the start with was refereed to as 2k. But the term kinda died out by now.
2160p UHD often refereed to 4k. But this is not really the truth as well since true 4k is actually not the regular 16:9 aspect ratio. but 4096 × 2160p.

Kinda figured. Besides, getting a mid range Ryzen and OC will probs be good for at least 5 years?

Have a friend willing to buy the whole thing for 500, could toss a couple hundred more of my own and get upwards of a 1060 6gb or a 570 8gb (assuming prices and stock normalize by black friday)

Isn't 1070 a bit overkill for only 1080p, even if ultrawide?

No idea what that is, anyone enlighten me?

Volta is nvidias next generation of graphics cards.

You're better off waiting and saving more to build a better build and one that can better support a great monitor.

wish people would say the res too or the corresponding letters
bolded part is where people get things confusing
2560x1080 isnt 1080p
3440x1440 isnt 1440p

and all "p" shit is 16:9 aspect ratio
but thing is 1980x1200 is called 1200p by many but has 16:10 same with 1600p

and lets not forget about 4:3 aspect ratio monitors

on pc aspect ratio does make huge difference in fps gaming
16:9 no matter of the 16:9 resolution will all see same thing higher res more detail
16:10 gets to see more of course above
then 16:3 like what I use get wider fov many require fixes/tweaks etc

Don't wait for volta

Nice job ripping your friend off

The monitor you listed isn't 1080p it's 2k

Yes to your first question

Normal 1080 is 2k res; it refers to the amount of horizontal pixels.

My friend just has the money and offered me 500 before I even told him a price.

When are next gens from Nvidia and AMD slated to be released? Spring?

I could drop 3k on a build right now if I really wanted to, but I don't get that much gaming in. I'm a kitchen manager and do overnight snow removal starting here pretty soon. I only get a few hours of gaming in a week, just find it kind of have to justify spending that much on a rig I don't use that much.

My real question tho now then is will that 8320 be a major bottleneck vs a ryzen chip if I'm willing to overclock even farther? I know it benchmarks about the same as the ryzen 1400, but not sure how that affects gaming performance.
