update from gigabyte support:
"Hello,

Sorry but there isn't a way to force the lanes usage on the board.

Please install a M.2 PCIe x2 SSD if you want to have all 6x SATA ports free."

Gotta get m-atx ^^.

- So i'm going for a m.2 SATA SSD. I currently only have 5 HDD anyway. When i wanna add another 5 HDD i'm going to get an 6x port SATA adapter, Didn't seem very expensive :)

Do you really think you need an M.2 SSD at all?

Are you talking about NVME or SATA m.2?

exactly :)
I do not really care about the performance difference from an NVME to SATA SSD.
Even tho the intel 600p is almost the same price to a similar evo 850 with the same storage capacity.

Ok, now I understand. You decided to make massive media server in a small form factor. Silly me, for not expecting that. :)

^^ Should probably have written it in first post. But honestly only sought help on the PCIE NVME SSD lane.

but thought this would be enough tho

Well I'm in the middle of doing my plex server project. I currently have 5 HDD's.

The only reason for the NVME SSD is to save a SATA connection if possible.
I honestly just fell in love with the Node 804!

yeah but you are limiting yourself just saying I can totally understand if space is an issue though

14tb plex server here and everything is mirrored because it sucks losing a hdd
need to track down which content to re acquire and do all over which can be alot of time
