2c + 4t vs 4c + 4t

Their i3-7350k got outpaced by their LOCKED i5's, Ryzen is unlocked and has much more Cache. I don't expect it to keep up. If the price stays lower than r3 it may stay a good value though.

they need to make their i5's cheaper that's all, a bit more expensive than r3 but more performance will be a good deal, as long as unlocked g4560 stays much cheaper than r3 that will also be a good deal

e/ well i guess not really, unlocked $80 cpu doesnt make a lot of sense when budget mobos cant OC lol gg intel

It would be funny if we started seeing the core unlocker mobos again like we did in the athlon/phenom days.

Didn't work often tho, usually those cores are turned off for a reason. Was still nice to have the opportunity to try.

But imagine buying a ryzen 3 and turning it into a ryzen 7

over half of ryzen 3 is inert silicon, that's why they're so late to the market, they had to wait for enough defective ryzen 5's (which are defective ryzen 7's) to be set aside to start rolling them out. The fact that it took this long is a good sign for their yields.

The bonus of all that silicon that isn't being used is that it really helps with heat dissipation, they should oc well.

I mean we will wait and see what happens.
though others are right 2 physical cores beats to virtual cores all day every day.

yeah ryzen 3 is on a different tier
spending more on an oc mobo and cooler to hit 5ghz maybe at best and it'll still be behind the 1200/1300x
