There's a company here in UT/NV that advertises lifetime warranty on 100% of components, been broadcasting on TV lately too.

yes but its not really a life time warranty.
give me the fine print and i'll show you were it gets iffy.
most companies that says that are really saying we will offer you a replacement.
however the replacement is not warrantied there after.

well your instinct is correct the warranty policy is a crock of shit.
I didn't say you did care I merely stated that you do have time if you want to make time.
I mean lets be honest even with all that shit you could still do it if you wanted, I mean how long is a raid anyways?

plus your going to spend at least 2 hours setting up the os/programs so you'll have to either way.

usually way longer than it needs to be

* Lifetime parts warranty applies to all new PC Laptops brand desktop computers purchased on or after 2/1/2008 Certain restrictions apply. See store for details.

/edit
just called got to the overflow line and they confirmed.
they will replace a broken part or unit but replacements are not warrantied.

Like I said it would be a stupid policy otherwise I mean imagine 50 years from now someones like i want a replacement.

They should say "lifetime warranty on original parts" or something along the lines.

I'll keep looking around. You are right, I can find some time to build it myself but it would have to be broken up into different times. I won't have a full 2 hours to do it. I'd most likely start one day and finish the next.

Just like the most recent movie I watched. Took me three separate sittings to finish it. :P

talking about lifetime warranty

didnt xfx offer lifetime warranties before?

and on that note isnt lifetime considered on the product not the buyer lol

like lifetime warranty on transmissions arent forever ever just the rated 200k miles/etc

argument can be cpu could be 7 yrs
gpu 5 yrs
psu 10 yrs
hdd 5yrs
etc etc
I bet its not even that long, wonder their warranty prolly means until its discontinued

Intel processors reach End of Life status within 2-3 years of being released. all the haswell chips already are according to the intel website. If they offered a lifetime warranty it would actually be significantly worse than the warranty they offer atm (1o years was it? or 5)

or they can do it dynamically like some companies handle gpu rma's
a few years ago my buddy managed to burn out both of his evga 760's that were in sli (fan died on one and on the other the fan was at 100% at all times no matter what)
they sent him back a 970

it's easy to just give someone a more modern equivalent gpu to what they turned in if they don't have the card that was covered by the warranty... this obviously isn't possible with cpu's though.
