I'm occasionally experiencing the forementioned Nvidia blackscreen, both on my main installation and VMs. It didn't like my Intel 910 PCIe SSD either, got that partially sorted with the help of dark side of the Force and black magic.

I have yet to find any reason to do the update besides wanting to wait 8 hours.
