The current macbook pro is seriously outdated. It's from 2013

Now imagine with this gen cpu and gpu. Either a r7 1800X or 6900k plus 1080ti and it will still be cheaper than the mac pro.

You would have to get the 27" imac with i7, 32gb ram which is 3399$
That will be an 4core/8threads cpu, some slow ddr3 ram with an really power hungry mobile gpu.

Or

For 2350$ (amazing 4k display included)
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4xBMKZ
8core/16threads, fast ddr4 ram and an almost incompareable gpu. Added 1.35tb for ssd. But feel free to add a few TB of additional storage.

And iMovie seriously lacks a lot. There is some way better editing software out there.

E/ post before was a mistake thought he was refering to the mac pro as mentioned earlier.

Do you have any guess of when the new iMac will be out? I haven't been following that...

Rendering video in 4k and playing video games in 4k are different. He doesn't need a 1080Ti. A Hero 5 video shot in 4k still has a low bitrate since it's a compressed file. Now if he was shooting 4k with a camera that used a RAW format, he would need something beefy. As it is, 4k on a hero 5 isn't very demanding. OP wants a Mac so offer a Mac or not at all.

Which currency? I'm swedish but in US dollars I don't want to spend more than about 2k. The cheaper the better, just want something that is "good enough" for my purpose. Maybe a Mac mini?
