The reason I'm curious is because if there is a good reason to go over 1,500 then lets do it, to me this computer will at a minimum be used almost every day over the next 5 years, so investing a little extra now would be worth it to me. Although just by judging by initial responses to it, its probably overkill.

This is exactly what I would suggest 6800K and 6900K are both not worth the price vs performance .
