I thought about getting the 6700k instead of the 7700k but thats a year old so fuck that. Might as well get the newest one if ima buy. Was thinking about AMD but rip. Also ended up picking up a 1080 since it was only 100 more than the 1070. Who cares about saving money, not this guy

To clarify, I already have an SSD/SSHD for storage, my monitors and peripharls are all good. I could even use the same DVD drive.

My main components I would be buying are CPU, GPU, PSU, RAM, MOBO and possibly a new case. Looking to drop around ~1K-1.2K on all.

7700k is going for 329-349 USD new. Totally doable.

With a decent 1070 around the same price range, I'd be spending ~700 for both.

Probably will get ~16GB RAM which I think will cost around 100, then a decent 650-750 Watt PSU will be around 80, and the extra 120 on a MOBO. Can go over a little.

I would probably get a 480X but AMD GPU's don't have Shadowplay, and they've gone through two attempts at rivaling it, one that used to work like a charm but no longer overwrites existing video properly, and now just an on demand game recorder, that does provide excellent quality per byte, but doesn't stay active forever.

1070 > 480

You can get a 7700k for 300 even

I'd advise more than 120$ for the mobo

Any recommendations for 16GB RAM and a MOBO?

Was looking at this:

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Q9Gj4D/asus-motherboard-z170a

as far as the DVD drive is concerned to the guy above, the only time I put discs in, are for either the random CD I get at a concert, or installation discs.

Never have I ever used a Blu-Ray disc before, and if I did, I have my Xbox/PS4 for that.
