ill wait and have hope

but also to consider, intel prolly have had their hands on some review samples and they havent dropped prices
amd prices their products accordingly always have
amd has huge pre order everywhere, this kind of scares me

OP is clearly new at this shit lol

well according to the results above the cpu is less price to performance then the 7700,
which is sad since its double cores and threads both not utilized in games.

ye, it's gonna be like the fx series all over again.

both great CPU's
7700k will still probably be better for gaming cuz it can OC to 5.0 and shit etc.
1700 will be just good all around for dat 8core usage.

I read an interesting write up on reddit or somewhere... forget where.

Basically, everyone is retarded if they think AMD is going to be anywhere near dominant. Intel has had little competition here for like... a decade. Their advancements have always been like 3-10% increments. There's a good chance (and it would make sense if) Intel has just held back because they had no reason to rush out technology and push advancement at a high pace in the normal consumer market. Their Xeon line shows they have serious shit available.

not my fault people aren't seeing the bench still isn't clock for clock

the 1700/x is nearly the 7700/k in ipc clock for clock which was unprecedented
costs 329 for the 1700 vs 350 for the 7700k, and yes i'm comparing the non x to the k because both are overclockable
you also get 4 more cores and 8 more threads, and if you don't need 8 cores you can disable 4 and overclock the remaining 4 higher

literally everything about this cpu launch is perfect lmao

gasp, the part with more cores (and xfr) costs more than the chip with less cores

IPC is not everything though.
I think your not grasping that.

per clock it performs the same
i wouldn't expect a 5960x to clock to 5ghz without ln2, would you?
then why would you hold the 1700/1700x/1800/1800x's to the same standard?

and if you want better gaming performance, disable four cours, overclock the remaining four.. good in pretty much any use case scenario

ipc is everything when it comes to disabling cores you dont need and overclocking the ones you do.

edit, regardless, i don't understand why you need 5ghz on 8 cores to game
