Lol you at 1080p as well? same here, how long do you think this i7 2600k will hold up? I was looking at benchmarks and it seems like it holds up perfectly fine when oc'd (10-20%) loss of performance compared to skylake/kaby which is fine for me. For now anyway, I'm thinking 1-2 years before it's worth a full upgrade? Maybe we'll see how RyZen does?
I mean the 2600k will last as long as it doesn't bottleneck a GPU in my eyes.
The perk of CPU's is they never really die. They just lose stability on high end overclocks because of electromagnetic migration.
I used to be able to do 4.7 water 4.5 air. now it's down to 4.5 water, 4.3 air. Keep in mind this is from running this thing on the edge of what it can do since April of 2011.
the 480/1060 are the highest end graphics cards that it seems to be in perfect harmony with. where both are running at 100% in games like GTA V. I'd say just upgrade it next time you plan on upgrading your GPU.
