I would power through with the GPU and Fx-6300 and see what AMD releases. Ryzen is supposed to be good but I don't think anyone should get there hopes up.

That being said worst case scenario save up for an i5?

Thanks, yeah good idea. The 480 is apparently supposed to arrive tomorrow from FedEx.. However, FedEx is really a pile of shit and I doubt it :D

I'll just run with the fx 6300 now I guess and wait for Ryzen, thank again

Yes, The 2500K is an awesome CPU. BUT, used CPUs... be wary.

Most tech sites are expecting the Ryzen CPU to be ~ $500.
No one knows for sure yet.

There will be multiple versions. Some in the range of an i5.
It said to be released before 3marts so hold on.

- 6600k with a cheap motherboard will lose you the oc features cause you won't get a Z chipset. So you might as well get a none K i5.

Just wait and/or save up more money.
Go i5 or Ryzen.

Also I doubt it will b $500...
I think ~200-250 and won't contain whatever their version of HT is

That being said, HT model probably will cost that

Pro-tip: You buy cheap shit you get cheap shit.

Expect poor results.

Why do you even post sometimes.

To answer OP: I bought the same card (MSI armor 4g oc haha) and use it with the I7 2600k @4.3ghz and both the cpu and gpu can run at 100% simultaneously in benchmarks and games (So no apparent major bottleneck.) The 2500k gets 80-90% of the 2600k clock for clock in benchmarks and games, So if you could get yours to 4.5ghz that might close the gap, or maybe try to find an old I7 as they seem to age a *bit* better in terms of gaming performance. No matter what, waiting for ryzen may be the way to go. Ignore the guys above, Ryzens 8 core/16 thread cpu is going to be $500, they are ignoring the fact that they will be launching 4 and 6 core cpus around 200$+ which could cause a price war with intel.

The card you got can overclock pretty well, I got mine to 1340 MHZ with just +5% on the power limit, it could probably hit 1370 if you wanted.
DONT touch the memory though, unless you want to mess with the timings, simply adjusting the power limit and speed in wattman does nothing or hurts performance.

prices havent been confirmed on the amd cpu skus
and no 6core skus are reported as of the moment
and only real source is by amd saying it competes with intels 6900k in multithreaded apps

so everything is still speculation at the moment

Hey, thanks.

I'm actually at the point of just saying fuck it and not wait and just buy the i5 / new mobo and stuff. I know for a fact if the 8c/16t thing is going to be > even 400$ I won't buy it as I will never pay that much for a gaming CPU. However, I do game a lot on Black Desert and they actually utilize all cores but that only really helps inside towns. I've heard people on i7s can sustain 30+fps in crowded towns, which is mostly fine for me (and unfortunately with that said: it lowers my incentive to wait and buy the 8c/16t ryzen).

I'm also quite sick of waiting. Time is gold, and I have the money. I don't care if I want to save 50 or 100$ anymore, I jsut want to upgrade from my fx 6300 tbh. Maybe I'll just get the i7 skylake? I know Kaby Lake is out, but their mobo's are expensive as balls. And I don't want to get the other kind which I would need to flash the bios :(

cant say that at all

even when the 8350 came out it competed with 2500k/2600k somewhat but prices stayed the same unless you got it on sale
