i have permission to do it lol. i was just expecting it to be a lot cheaper. only store around here is best buy so thats where i checked. they only had a few different ones and their cheapest 8gb ddr3 was 57$

What he's after is the QVL to ensure the ram is compatible but i mean you shouldn't have issues.
Don't think HP even does QVL's for those small form factors.

It will fit in the slot but without a QVL we don't know if issue will arise.
Chance of that are real low though. I would not mix and match sticks.
so just use the 8gb stick. Also be sure the pc has a 64bit OS.

I'm guessing it's 32bit... x64-based pc?
So what would I need for that mobo?

If your running 32bit OS then you cant use more then 2.7gb either way.
We covered what that mobo needs, we just lack a QVL.
but like I said that shouldn't be an issue.
