It looked extremely time intensive, he had to spend months on certain things that turned out to be dead ends.
What made it insanely difficult is dealing with the multiple Gpus and cpus on the same unit.

He basically had to figure out that the cpu on the disc drive was basically locked down by the proprietary cd reading software. and had to find a work around to use the Carterage port with a gheto USB thumb drive setup.

Same techniques were used on the gamecube and wii. USB gecko allows you to dump data from the memory card ports iirc.

Basically taking 20 years to crack something isn't really a good reason to gauge how difficult something is. If there is more interest the faster something will get done. Just see Wii, xbox, xbox360, PSP, and many other consoles. Most of them were even broken before their end of life.

Sure it takes knowledge, but anyone who goes "OMGZ HE BROKE SOMETHING THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO IN 20 YEARS" is kind of silly.

Uh yeah.... relax already. I think it's amazing what he has accomplished in his spare time since 2013. Really quite something special as I always wanted a SEGA Saturan as a kid. The games the Saturan had are some of the best of the time.

I was already hooked on the Playstation. Damn the PS1 was awesome. I never had a Dream Cast but I did enjoy the N64!
