Dell xps 15 is your choice

Look at the monitor to body ratio and compare it to any other laptop. Its dimensions is smaller thsn that of 99% of all 14"

E: Compare it to above asus and razer and be astonished by its screen to body ratio

it is a solid choice, but they haven't refreshed them with new GPUs (should be in Jan) and until that point no point in paying for old tech

Elegant and does what was specified.

It's 50 wh but still hits your 7 hour mark on the battery.

If you've ever felt it in person (go to the Microsoft store, Microcenter, etc) you will know that it doesn't feel as durable and well built as macs/razer blade. I know I sound biased, but I did a decent amount of research before I chose this laptop for a reason.

Mac is prob the best design and build quality laptop on the market, biggest issue is that it can't do what a real windows computer can. The Razer Blade is the fix for that, making it (in my opinion), the best laptop n the market.

Razer + quality doesn't mix.

I just got the new Lenovo T460, and with the bigger battery for $35 more make its worth every penny. At the moment, it's has the longest battery life. Reviews say 13-14 hours.

If I were my dad, I would've gone with a 15-inch. He doesn't carry his laptop everywhere, just home and drives in to work. Would've been more suitable. But he went with a 13-inch Dell XPS, with the touchscreen. Still a really nice computer.

I was handed down his 13-inch MacBook Pro (2015 model).

Windows 10 still needs to take a note from OS X's trackpad gestures. Windows 10 sort-of integrated the features, but not quite. Although, OS X isn't touchscreen compatible, which is getting to be a drawback as time moves forward (for laptops).

Get him a thinkpad or at least get him to look at one.

Thinkpad with a docking station.
