Well you're all going to hate me now. It turns out my monitor has simply broken.
I've used this monitor to do work on PCs in the past and it was the only thing I didn't test.
Speaker works. Monitor simply wont pass through sound.

So...mystery solved!
Anyone by chance familiar with this problem and know if its a fixable issue?

Well i had literally used it the day before and it worked before switching back to this computer, so the death was so sudden, it did not click to test it. Damn you Dell!
Funny story but I've had this monitor since you guys gave me my first PC build a few years ago.

Yeah I was afraid of something like that.

Thanks for dealing with me guys. X)

@ Atrhur, if you know any good way to diagnose/play/potentially fix this, let me know. Google is filled with too many scenarios that are not me, and I'm having trouble finding anyone with a specifically "now broken monitor" issue that has also has any meaningful insights.

while it's not impossible that i simply sell this like this and buy a new one, I really don't want to if the fix could be simpleish and costing very little, since I would wager I could get at least 80 bucks for this monitor (how many people will care about a broken Aux Out port on a 200 dollar monitor? :P) and buy a fresh new one with 3 year warranty for 100.

This ones worth a watch also as this is the most needed with bad monitors.

If the continuity of the HDMI port is fine, but the port still doesn't work, then the circuit board is damaged in some
way. It's almost impossible to locate and repair damage to a printed circuit board.
