It could be key bounce or key chatter.
Which is fixable via hardware or software lvl most times.

Not sure what a charge period is. I just unplugged it (not from the back of the PC, but the mini USB that plugs into the keyboard itself) for about 30 seconds while I moved the keyboard to a different location. It's something I've done before without issues in the past :\

just means the keyboard was powered and maybe when you unplugged it, something shorted on its circuits, this is highly highly unlikely, but you never know

yeah, thats why i would go through device Manager and remove them, then replug the keyboard back in to reinstall the drivers. This would be the best bet after testing other ports. Does this particular keyboard have software for it?

There's no software for it no, not that I remember.
I uninstalled all of the drivers and plugged the keyboard back in, it seems to have helped, or Maybe not, lol. still happens. oh well.

sometimes, your pc will misread it after a unplug, it could be because it was in-use while being unplugged that could have froze it, with removing the drivers and allowing it to reinstall it should fix it hopefully, if it doesn't then I would start considering looking for a new keyboard ^_^

Glad to hear its working for now, if you need anything else let us know!
