Well I am betting, it's the power supply.

I would still pull the CMOS battery and wait 30 seconds and replace it...but it sounds like the power supply. CPUs don't really go bad that often..hardly ever.

It could be the vid card in the motherboard, but that's a pretty crappy power supply. So, that's where my money is.

/e Yeah the nickle sized battery is the CMOS battery. Shut the computer off, turn off the plug strip...then pull the battery, wait 30 seconds and replace it.

But, I'm still betting that it's the power supply.

You can test the power supply, out of the case, by doing the paper clip trick...

With the 20 or 24 pin connecdtor shorted as shown, the fan in the power supply should spin.
Also you could just take the power supply to BestBuy and they could test it for you.

My brother was also betting it was the power supply.

Would it still turn all the fans on even if it was bad?

It's possible, but not the norm.
I mean it could be the PCI-E slot on your motherboard...but those are kinda hard to break, unless you were really rough with it.

/e Supposedly that power supply is really a 420W with a 520W peak power.

Good power supplies are like those made by Corsair and EVGA, for example. Like I said, you can take the power supply to Best Buy and have them test it for you. Or you could try the paper clip trick...linked above.

Amazon.com, and maybe Best Buy also sell power supply testers. they should cost between $7 and $25

I will take it to Best-Buy tomorrow to have it tested.

If it is the Power Supply, would I still need to the taken the button off the MOBO?

Maybe. Like I said...It's never a good idea to shut off a PC "the hard way".

If it turns out that the problem IS the power supply...don't buy another Insignia power supply. :)

Yeah.
Well I bought this P/C from another dude.
Mistake on my part, never again will I ever buy someone elses computer.

Lesson learned.
And I know its never a good idea to shut down a p/c that way, but the Power Button on top of the tower was not turning it on.
So I had no other choice other than to unplug it :(

No, shutting it down "that way" most probably didn't harm the computer. It MAY have confused the BIOS though (software).

Yeah.
Well I'll try unplugging/replugging the silver thing first. Then i'll take the PS to best-buy.

Yeah.
Well it was a good deal for my price range.

I could have waited and saved up more, but my impatience got the best of me this time.

Will never happen again.
Guess I can't trust people to be honest like myself.

Thats ok though, I'll just go burn his apartment complex down.
Problem solved
